about

Created in Chile in 2012, the Ensamble Transatlántico de Folk Chileno plays a range of innovative original compositions based on traditional Chilean Folk music. Described by Rob Adams of Herald Scotland as 'a vibrant demonstration of how to keep traditional rhythms and instrumentation sounding fresh' the Ensemble has played across Europe and Chile, proving that modern Chilean folk music deserves a place no less recognised than other better known South American music styles.

The original repertoire, written by members of Ensemble, includes styles as diverse as the creole “Cueca”, the Andean “huayno”, songs from Rapa Nui (Easter Island), as well as Mapuche (indigenous) singing, and even the rhythms of African descent, a legacy which is largely unrecognized in Chile.

Mil alas volaron juntas
trajeron sones de su hogar
desde rincones lejanos
su voz se hizo escuchar

Trabajaron mano a mano
gozaron su diversidad
aprendieron una canción
sobre su eterna hermandad

Hoy te encuentro
no oculto mi admiración
aprendo a ver los colores
que pintan nuestra comunión
desde el lejano oriente
hasta tu fin que es mi principio

El cielo es más cercano
tus ojos parecen brillar
el recuerdo de tu canto
y de tu sombra al bailar

Historias de sobremesa
brindamos para celebrar
festejamos la creación
de este ritual sin final

Track Name: Puerto Mío
En el puerto de,
el paraíso
jamás fundado,
pero que siempre está de pie

Se escucha la voz,
de su eterna lucha
Quintil, Alimapu,

Tus muros… retratan
La historia del… puerto mío

Una lancha va,
llena de esperanzas
Y en la punta 'el cerro
una micro comienza su andar

Una madre que,
sube mil peldaños
Lleva el pan batido,
que a sus hijos hace suspirar
